Service

A Steward’s Prayer
O Lord, giver of life and source of freedom, I know that all I have received is from Your hand. Gracious and loving God, You call us to be stewards of Your abundance, the caretakers of all You have entrusted to us. Help us to always use Your gifts wisely and teach us to share them generously. Send the Holy Spirit to work through us, bringing Your message to those we serve. May our faithful stewardship bear witness to the love of Jesus Christ in our lives. We pray with grateful hearts, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

We have many organizations in our parishes and communities that can benefit from your call to service.

If you would like to serve in any of the following ministries, please call the the North ACC office (Sauk) at 320-352-2196, South ACC office (BBE) at 320-254-8218, or the West ACC office (St. Alexius) at 320-352-2563.

Catholic Order of Foresters

This is a fraternal Catholic insurance organization that helps members with life, term, annuities and financial planning. We provide scholarships and youth activities. We have a summer picnic for members.

Christian Mothers

The Parish Council of Christian Women (PCCW) includes all ladies of each parish. Meetings are lead by the Christian Mothers Society.

As Christian Women, we get together to pray for our parish needs, hold fund-raisers usually in the form of bake sales, and see if there are needs not being filled within our parishes that we can help out with. Please feel free to join us at any of our meetings.

There is also a broader aspect of this organization for the diocese called the DCCW (Diocesan Council of Christian Women).

Handmaids of the Lord

This is a group of women who have consecrated themselves to Jesus through Mary. We are focused on praying, especially the Rosary. Dues are collected through prayer, not money. We pray individually, but also together in the Adoration chapel the first Monday of the month at 9:00am and third Tuesday at 6:00pm. Our focus is on living out the vocation God has called us to through service to the Lord. Women who have not yet done a consecration will be given help on how to do so.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal service organization of men, founded under the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. This organization provides men with a vehicle for building up the parish community and family life with an emphasis on family, youth, church, council, and community activities.

(Excerpt from the Knights of Columbus official website)
“Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.

From the moment of our founding in 1882, charity has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus. We are men of faith and men of action.

Last year alone, in addition to raising and donating more than $158 million to charitable needs and projects, Knights volunteered more than 70 million hours of their time to charitable causes. We undertake these acts of charity because we see those in need through the eyes of faith. Moreover, in the Knights of Columbus, we approach these acts of charity together. Pope Benedict XVI calls this the “practice of love…as a community.”

Our charitable activities encompass an almost infinite variety of local, national and international projects. From international charitable partnerships with Special Olympics, the Global Wheelchair Mission and Habitat for Humanity to our own Food for Families and Coats for Kids projects and other purely local charities, the opportunity to work together with fellow Knights and their families is virtually endless.

If you’d like to be a part of an international organization of 1.8 million Catholic men whose principal work involves helping others in need, we’d like to meet you and invite you to join us.”

Mission Groups

The mission groups of our parishes are not widely known, but they do a mighty work. These members make rosaries, quilts, knit dishcloths, and collect school supplies for missions around the world; make quilts for raffles; and financially support our seminarians. Each group would enjoy more participants, so feel free to show up!

St. Theresa’s Mission Group • St. Francis de Sales
We meet the 1st Tuesday after 8:00 morning Mass. Coffee & rolls are served. All are welcome!

St. Martha’s Mission Group • Sts. Peter & Paul
We meet the 3rd Monday at 7:00pm of every month with our Christian Women’s meeting.

St. Margaret’s Mission • Our Lady of the Angels
A group of women who want to answer the call of the Church to be mission-minded by praying for missionary’s and making quilts and other items to give to people who are in need. Our group meets the third Tuesday in November, December, March, April and May. We make items on our own and in April we tie quilts together; in May they are sent off. Dues are $10 and anyone can join.

St. Theresa Mission • St. Paul’s
We do charitable quilting and give them to the mission office in St. Cloud. We would love more people to join. We do tie quilts so anyone can learn. We meet the second Thursday of the month in St. Paul’s Church basement for a meeting, tie up to two quilts and have a small lunch. We have $3 dues per year to help us buy supplies.

Seniors Mission

We meet approximately four times a year at 9:00am for one hour. We send cards from the parish for weddings, births and deaths. Along with birthday wishes to all nursing home residents, we also throw a birthday party at Nursing home in February. We hold a remembrance service in November for those who have died. We plan two Masses with Anointing of the Sick: Harvest and Spring Graces. We also help set up for the annual Seder Meal.
