Exposition
All kneel when the priest or deacon opens the tabernacle.
When he goes to the front of the altar and kneels, he incenses the Blessed Sacrament.
“O Saving Victim / O Salutaris” or another suitable song is sung by the congregation.
O saving Victim, open wide
The gate of heaven to us below.
Our foes press on from every side;
Your aid supply, your strength bestow.
To your great name be endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, One in Three;
O grant us endless length of days
In our true native land with thee. Amen
(Latin)
O salutaris Hostia
Quae caeli pandis ostium;
Bella premunt hostilia,
Da robur, fer auxillium.
Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna gloria,
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria. Amen.
Adoration
During this period there may be prayers, songs, readings from scripture, a brief homily or silence to help the congregation focus attention on the worship of the Lord. Remember that the Eucharist is the “Real Presence” of Jesus Christ. You may kneel or be seated for your personal time of adoration.
